Dr. Kamran Ahmed joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the UAE University in August 2009 as an Assistant Professor of Transportation Engineering. Dr. Kamran earned his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Transportation Engineering from the Michigan State University, East Lansing, USA. He received his B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from Balochistan University of Science and Technology, Khuzdar, Pakistan.   

Prior to Joining the UAE University, Dr. Kamran held the position of Assistant Professor at the National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan. He taught Transportation engineering courses to undergraduate and graduated classes. Dr. Kamran also worked as a Traffic Engineer with PARSONS Transportation Group, USA. During his course of employed Dr. Kamran has been involved with a variety of traffic impact studies and signal optimization projects. His work includes trip generation analyses, traffic assignments, capacity analyses, traffic signal operation, and parking analyses. Dr. Kamran has experience with traffic engineering software such as SYNCHRO, SIMTRAFFIC, CORSIM, VISSIM, HCS 2000, TRANSYT 7F, and TRAFFIX.

Dr. Kamran is a member of several professional associations including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Institute of Transportation Engineers. His areas of current/future research interest include: Microscopic Simulation Modeling, Delay estimation at closely spaced signalized intersection and Traffic operations and safety in urban areas.
